  • Staff

Shabda Gajbhiye, known by the Dharma name Lhazo, meaning “patient helper,” has been a devoted student of Rinpoche since 2021. Originally hailing from India, Shabda has found a new home at Joyful Path, where she has been residing as a meditation leader-practitioner with a focus on Buddhist practice since 2022. Shabda is known for her grace and helpful nature, which shine through in her active role within the community. She volunteers in organizing weekly and special events, playing a pivotal role in bringing people together. Beyond event coordination, Shabda is integral to the outreach efforts at Joyful Path, and manages the monthly newsletters that keep the community connected and informed.

Her dedication to both spiritual growth and academic excellence reflects a harmonious balance of mind and heart. Currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Shabda’s research is at the cutting edge of sustainable agriculture. Focusing on engineering sustainable agroecosystems, her work aims to contribute to a more sustainable future, blending her passion for environmental stewardship with rigorous scientific inquiry.

At the intersection of these paths—spiritual practice and scientific research—Shabda embodies the qualities of patience, dedication, and service. Whether nurturing the Joyful Path community or advancing sustainable practices through her academic pursuits, Shabda’s journey is marked by a deep commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
